What is ADHD Coaching

ADHD coaching is a form of support and guidance tailored specifically for individuals struggling with ADHD and/or executive function. It is an interactive process that helps strengthen skills in areas such as time management, organization, motivation, and goal setting.

ADHD Coaching for students is designed to empower students to thrive in all areas of their lives as they develop confidence in their abilities and achieve both personal and educational goals. Coaching may also help students with transitions, such as the transition to a new grade level or the move from high school to college, which may include things such as navigating changes in routine, new expectations, and academic workload.

My Approach

I believe that each student is a unique, whole, and resourceful person. I will be your cheerleader, offer you support, and hold you accountable. By building a relationship and asking questions, I will empower you to recognize your own abilities and identify your strengths. I will provide encouragement and feedback, as well as help you discover what motivates you and how you can be responsible for moving forward to find balance and self-confidence in many different areas of your life.

Through collaborative coaching sessions, I will partner with you to come up with an individualized plan that will help you be successful in areas with which you may be struggling due to the effects of ADHD.

Together we will set goals, develop strategies, and strengthen emotional  regulation by coming up with practical solutions in areas such as:

  • Organization
  • Planning and completing a task
  • Regulating emotions
  • Time management
  • Self-advocacy
  • Social skills
  • Cognitive flexibility (knowing you have choices in the moment and the ability to switch between tasks)

About Me

Hi, I’m Katie Ertmer and it is great to have the opportunity to share a bit about myself with you! Growing up surrounded by the stunning mountains of Colorado, I currently reside in the vibrant state of North Carolina. I love spending time outdoors and have a passion for exploring and traveling with my family.

Over the past decade, I’ve been engaged in the field of education as a dedicated teaching assistant and certified substitute teacher. It’s been a fulfilling journey that has allowed me to connect with a diverse array of students, including those those who navigate the landscape of neurodiversity.

Throughout my tenure in education, I’ve had the privilege of observing the unique energy and creativity that students with ADHD bring to the table. Yet, I have also witnessed firsthand the challenges they encounter and the strategies they employ to navigate through each day.

Driven by a passion for creating positive change, I set out on a new path in ADHD coaching. My training with the esteemed JST Coaching and Training is a research based, and International Coaching Federation (ICF) accredited program. The Empowering Students Through Coaching education has provided me with the essential tools and insights to support students and young adults struggling with executive function and ADHD.

I’m excited to combine my passions for education and coaching to help you leverage your natural strengths to help you conquer the transitions and challenges you may be facing within all aspects of your personal goals and academic achievements. Let’s work together to explore a path of growth, self-awareness, and endless possibilities!
